Shigar Valley, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan

Cabinet, 10.2 x 6.9 x 6.7 cm

The world-renowned Aquamarines from Pakistan are unquestionably among the best and most recognized examples of this blue variety of Beryl ever found. The size, color, quality and aesthetics seen in top specimens is certainly in the top tier for the material. Here we have a showy, three-dimensional, almost "jackstraw"-esque group of Aquamarine crystals, free of matrix from the famed Shigar Valley in Pakistan featuring many sharp, lustrous, well-formed, prismatic crystals of a light gemmy blue color measuring up to 5.7 cm. Most of the crystals on the piece are undamaged, and the only real roughness is on the back. Not only is the piece aesthetic, but it's RARE to find groups of crystals like this off matrix from Pakistan. Portions of some crystals show a slight chatoyant "cat's eye" effect when rotated in the light.
